![]() My husband read tons of reviews on a lot of options, and despite rumors of bad battery life, we wanted to give this safe a try. We also wanted to still have it close by with easy access. Helpful review: "My husband and I have a toddler, and we really wanted a way to secure our firearm to make sure it stayed out of his wandering hands. ![]() All these dings on the design are minor and tolerable for our purposes, especially at this price point. Why so loud? Pls fix! And the gas-assist door opens rapidly, almost violently, and can crash into the front of the cabinet if the drawer the safe is kept in isn’t opened enough. The beep that sounds when you press a button is unreasonably *LOUD* so we disabled it by holding the '1' key down for 4 seconds. It holds a 6” revolver and a full size semi-auto with a little room to spare for ammo + 1 clip. Regarding the other features of the safe, it’s heavy and solid, although I could probably pry it open with the right tools in 10 minutes. Results: ZERO failures! The programmed fingers opened the safe and the wrong ones didn’t. If we discovered any inaccuracies, the safe would go straight back into the box and returned to Amazon. So after reading the instructions thoroughly (they are short, well-written, and provide steps to ensure the accuracy of the fingerprint reader), we programmed each adult member of the family’s fingerprints (index and thumb of both hands), we tested the reader repeatedly VS programmed fingers, the same person’s other fingers, and the fingers of our unauthorized kids. Helpful review: "We bought this safe with concern, having read a number of reviews reporting that the fingerprint reader allowed people who had never programmed their fingerprints to open the safe. ![]() Anyway, if I ever get another handgun, I’d consider buying another slider for sure." - Ari Levine If I could, I’d beat the crap out of this thing just to see how much punishment it can take before it opens up, but I’m not made of cash. The app is User Friendly, and the smart key (you have to buy this separately) is a huge plus for me. I’m fairly active at a local gun range, so I’m constantly putting in and taking out my pistol, and there's still no sign of foam deformation. ![]() The foam is forgiving and looks like it hasn’t lost its shape since I’ve used it. Also, keep in mind that it’s cut for a pistol without any attachments, but I keep a subcompact pistol with a mini valkyrie 2 flashlight on it, and it fits fine. I thought it would be like the biometrics on the iphone. I’ve had to rescan my prints a couple times too to get it working perfectly. If you don’t have your finger straight on the scanner, it won’t read it correctly. That’s piece of mind that I don’t loose my pistol. It blends in with what’s in my room and I have it screwed in tight. Trending review: "I don’t regret shelling out money for this fancy metal box. I emailed Vaultek and they said they are aware of the issue, so hopefully anyone buying the safe going forward won't have to deal with this and waste any time getting their safe set up." - Cody McPherson This took me quite a while to figure out, and since the model is so new there were no YouTube tutorials available yet. To set your fingerprint you must hold PROGRAM and '2', NOT '1' like it says. There is a TYPO in the quick-start guide. So, If you're looking for the best, fastest, single-gun speed safe for your home defense firearms, look no further. Is it a tad bit luxurious to have a WiFi safe? It probably is:) But it's very cool. With kids around this is helpful, because I know if they're messing with the safe (or if anyone else is "snooping"). So many ways to open the safe quickly, and of course this model is WiFi enabled so you can get push notifications from anywhere when your safe is opened or tampered with. Yes, they are expensive, but simply amazing. Vaultek spared no expense to make these safes top-of-the-line. Helpful review: "I bought two of these, one for each level of my home.
